Pilgrimage to the Oberammergau Passion Play
Radio Family Rosary is organizing a 10-day pilgrimage to the village of Oberammergau, Germany, with Fr. Tom Enneking, osc, as a spiritual director. Every 10 years, the villagers present the "Passion Play" which is an acclaimed and stirring reenactment of the final days of Christ offered in gratitude to God for sparing the town from the ravages of the Black Plague. The pilgrimage is July 1-10, 2020 and includes travels to Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Every major acting role is only available to those born in Oberammergau, giving them generations to hone their talent. The key actors spend an intensive, weeks-long trip to Israel to study the culture, life and times of Jesus, which lends an authenticity to their performance. The community maintains five choirs and orchestras to train children who will eventually be chosen as singers and instrumentalists. It’s truly an amazing, historical legacy. Space is limited.
