Br. Albert Leo Becker osc, dies in Onamia
Br. Albert Leo Becker, osc, was born June 14, 1950, to Clemens and Mary (Blonigen) Becker in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
He died unexpectedly Aug. 16, 2019, in Onamia, Minnesota, at the age of 69.
Br. Albert attended public schools in Upsala, Minnesota, and graduated from Upsala High School in 1968. Br. Albert entered the Crosier novitiate in 1971, professed first vows on March 19, 1972, and made his solemn profession April 9, 1978, all in Hastings, Nebraska.
He served the Order in various fundraising roles including procurator, business manager, director of planned giving, director of the Apostolate (annual giving) program, and director of development. He was serving as the senior director of development for the Conventual Priory of the Holy Cross at the time of his death. He loved his Crosier vocation and the charism we share, and he loved the donors with whom he worked in support of our Crosier fraternal life and service for the Kingdom of God.
Br. Albert is survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Jim) Roske of Oak Park, Minnesota, and brother, Virgil (Sheila) of Little Falls, Minnesota, their extended family, his Crosier confreres and many friends throughout the region. He is preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a public vigil at the Crosier Priory Church in Onamia, Minnesota, on Friday, Aug. 23, from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. The vigil will continue Saturday morning, Aug. 24, at 9:30 a.m. until the funeral Mass begins at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow. A private burial will take place at a later date.
