Annual Solemn Novena to St. Odilia

St Odilia

Dear Crosier Friends,

It is a tremendous blessing to hear the powerful accounts of how St. Odilia continues her active role in the lives of so many people today. Since establishing the National Shrine of St. Odilia in 1952, we have received countless letters from our friends and patrons who share their stories of how St. Odilia has touched their lives.

One such letter came to us from a dear couple in Pennsylvania and their story involved a beloved friend with Wet Macular Degeneration. The disease was so advanced that the gentleman went blind in one eye and was no longer able to drive or do everyday tasks.

The couple gave their friend a blessed St. Odilia medal and prayer card, and he began praying for St. Odilia’s intercession and the grace to accept the will of God. After some time had passed, the couple received a call from their friend who had good news to share. His eyesight improved significantly enough so that he could once again drive! Amazingly for this couple, the grace their beloved friend received was the second miracle they attributed to the intercession of St. Odilia

We know that you and many of our friends seek St. Odilia’s intercession for themselves and for their loved ones. I invite you to join us in prayer from July 10–18 when we will once again hold our annual Solemn Novena in Honor of the Feast of St. Odilia. In addition, we will offer a Healing Mass on Sunday, July 15, 10:30 a.m. at the National Shrine in Onamia and at 1 p.m. at Crosier Village in Phoenix. Both Masses will include the Anointing of the Sick and the ritual blessing with a relic of St. Odilia.

As a faithful supporter of the Crosier Fathers and Brothers, we invite you, Catherine, to join us in our continued devotion to St. Odilia which began so many years ago. Sharing a novena in time of need is a powerful way in which you can petition St. Odilia’s help for healing, both spiritually and physically.

Please take a moment to write your intentions in the Comment Box of the donation page and pray with us during the novena. The Crosier Fathers and Brothers in Onamia and Phoenix will remember your intentions on each of the nine days of this Annual Solemn Novena. Please feel free to also download the Novena prayer leaflet here so that you can pray with us.

Year after year, St. Odilia continues her active role in our lives, showering a stream of graces upon all who invoke her intercession. Sometimes those graces come in the form of what we would consider a miracle, and sometimes the answer comes in one’s simple ability to keep functioning on a day-today basis. In either case, we are thankful that our prayers are heard as we take time to reflect and pray for healing graces.

As St. Odilia has interceded so often on behalf of those who invoke her aid, I hope that you will take this opportunity to pray with me, and many others, on behalf of all those in need. Indeed, please consider joining us for the Healing Mass on July 15. (A brunch will follow the Mass in Onamia for those who RSVP.)

Along with your intentions, I also ask you to please consider a generous gift from your heart to help sustain our religious life and support the outreach ministries of the National Shrine of St. Odilia, both here in the United States and our missions in Congo and Indonesia. In appreciation for your gift, I would be happy to send you one of our devotional resources listed below.

  • For a gift of $16.00 or more, we will send you a beautiful silver-plated St. Odilia anniversary medal
  • For a gift of $20.00 or more, we will send you a Rosary CD "Praying the Rosary with the Crosiers" plus the Litany of St. Odilia
  • For a gift of $48.00 or more, we will send you an eight-inch hand-painted statue of St. Odilia
  • For a gift of $65.00 or more, we will send you the St. Odilia anniversary medal in sterling silver
With open arms, St. Odilia shares her victory in the Cross of Christ with her friends in this world—the faithful who are sharing in that same Holy Cross, following her example, and asking for her powerful intercession. We look forward to your joining us in the annual Solemn Novena in Honor of the Feast of St. Odilia. May the healing power of St. Odilia’s intercession come to you and to all those for whom you pray.

Sincerely in Christ,

V. Rev. Kermit M. Holl, osc
