Solemn Vespers for the Crosier Martrys of Congo

Each year, the Crosiers commemorate the anniversary of the death of their confreres who were brutally murdered by Simba rebels in Buta (Democratic Republic of the Congo) on May 30, 1965. We honor the 23 Crosiers who were killed because of their commitment to living out their faith and serving the people of Congo.

The Crosiers gave their lives out of love for the Congolese people. The native Congolese Crosiers, deeply inspired by their martyred brothers, named their region “Martyrs of Bondo.”
