Crosiers celebrate Las Mañanitas with traditional song and dance

Chinelos2018More than 100 people gathered at the Crosier Village in Phoenix at 6 a.m. on Dec. 12-- the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe--to celebrate Las Mañanitas, a traditional serenading of the Virgin Mother.

The service began before sunrise with lit candles held by the participants. The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was illuminated and decorated with flowers. After the songs to Mary were sung, the Eucharist was celebrated.

Las Mañanitas included traditional mariachi music, and ceremonial dance by chinelos to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The assembly enjoyed breakfast in Campo Hall following Mass as the chinelos performed additional dances to venerate Our Lady.
