Fr. Oscar Schoenberg, osc, dies in Minnesota

The Crosier Community mourns the loss of our brother. Oscar Schoenberg, osc, was born Feb. 26, 1922, to William and Eleanor (Braun) in Spring Hill, Minnesota.  

Fr. Oscar died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, in Onamia, Minnesota. He was 93 years old.
 
He entered the Crosier novitiate in Hastings, Nebraska, Aug. 27, 1942, and made his First Profession of Vows Aug. 28, 1943. He was ordained a priest in Hastings May 27, 1948. Fr. Oscar was one of three Schoenberg brothers to have joined the Crosiers. 
 
Fr. Oscar spent many of his years in ministry as a formator and teacher for the Crosiers. He also served as a chaplain at Minnesota State Hospital and parish pastor in Moose Lake. 
 
Reception of the Body and the Office for the Dead will take place at the Crosier Priory Church in Onamia, Minnesota, Saturday, April 11, at 9:00 a.m. Vigil will be kept until the Funeral Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. 
 
A luncheon will immediately follow with a later private burial in the Crosier cemetery. Fr. Oscar is survived by siblings Br. Walter, OCSO, and Br. Leo, osc, and by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and his Crosier confreres. 
 
Memorials are preferred to the Crosier Fathers and Brothers, P.O. Box 500, Onamia, MN, 56359-0500, for the formation and education of Crosiers.
